Learning Success Center (LSC) LibGuide

Welcome to the MWCC Learning Success Center (LSC), where we provide face-to-face and online learning consultations across multiple subject areas, including Math, English, Writing, STEM, and more. Additionally, we offer assistance on learning styles and strategies (i.e. VARK and test-taking) and executive functioning (i.e. time-management). For faculty and staff, we offer classroom support via Supplemental Instruction (SI) and other collaborative learning opportunities.

Hours
The LSC is open during Library hours in Gardner and Leominster campuses. Schedules will vary for online learning consultations. Please see WCOnline and/or click "Schedule an Appointment" (left) to view the current schedule.

We are a team of 30+ paraprofessional and professional learning consultants across 7+ subject areas. As learning consultants, we envision a physical and digital space where students are empowered to become agents in their own learning. Our mission and vision are motivated by four core principles:

• Growth Mindset (Dweck, 2007) 
• Universal Design for Learning (CAST, 2024) 
• Grit (Duckworth, 2018)  
• Brave Spaces (Arao and Clemens, 2013)  

In practice, these core principles promote the cycle of discovery (of learning styles and strategies), application (of learning to content), and reflection (how discovery + application expand our learning).

All Learning Consultants are encouraged to integrate these principles and practices into their interactions with students. To learn more about our core principles, please view the reference list (pdf.) below.

The Learning Success Center is regularly seeking applicants of all academic and professional backgrounds who would like to become learning consultants. If you are currently a student, a 3.0 minimum GPA and completion of 12 college credits is required. Applicants who have not yet completed a bachelor’s degree may apply here.
