Research Starter Toolkit

This guide will help you learn how to use library resources in order to complete your research. Here you will learn how to access library databases, journal articles, books, and more.

What are Library Databases?

A library database is an online searchable collection of information that provides digital access to thousands of resources including:

  • Scholarly journal articles
  • Newspaper articles
  • Magazine articles
  • Literary criticism
  • Images & charts
  • Primary sources
  • ...and more

Watch the video below for a more in-depth look at library databases and why they are useful to college-level research:

Databases at MWCC

The MWCC Library subscribes to over 80 online databases covering a wide-range of subjects. As you saw in the video, some databases cover a range of topics and are great for general and multidisciplinary research, while others are more focused on specific subjects and are helpful for research in a specific field, such as nursing or literature.

To access the databases from the library's home page, choose the FIND menu and select "Library Databases"
